Now Hiring: Executive Director, iHARP

iHARP is recruiting the executive director to provide critical leadership in the center's operations working alongside the iHARP team, a person who is dedicated to the center’s growth as well as building a sustainable center for years to come. The ideal candidate will be active in building community relationships and related programming, involved in strategic planning for the center's growth, and work with researchers to identify new grant and funding opportunities. 


The Executive Director will work with the  Principal Investigators of the initiative at each partner institution in coordinating and managing grant-related activities; providing active and continuous support for the achievement of grant outcomes; and contributing to the development of progress reports and conference presentations, as well as coordination of programs, workshops, travel, and related materials. The Initiative addresses issues of inter-institutional collaboration, faculty development, and leadership opportunities for science and technology faculty.

The incumbent will be a highly effective communicator and proven leader who has successfully managed research centers. Specific duties for the incumbent include, but are not limited to: Research center management, strategic positioning and growth of the research center,  interact closely with leaders on campus for strategic alignment and growth, and represent UMBC at regional and national meetings and events. The incumbent will work with iHARP researchers to expand iHARP’s external funding, collaborate with academic, government, industry partners, and private and public organizations; work with researchers/faculty for the development of external funding proposals to grow and sustain a robust research center and education portfolio and developing initiatives and activities to enhance the visibility of iHARP, UMBC and partner institutions.

The Executive Director is expected to work closely with the Director of iHARP, iHARP Principal Investigators, and Senior Researchers. This position involves the exercise of discretion and judgment, with the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance that affect the program.
